An origami bonsai sculpture called "peach dream"

An Origami Bonsai sculpture called More info at www.OrigamiBonsai.org If I had a dream about a blooming bonsai tree with peach flowers I think it would look much like this. In many respects this sculpture is too beautiful to be real. Like a dream, it exaggerates the natural forms that nature produces. The branches are highly tapered; the bonsai dish is un-naturally shallow. But that's what this art form, Origami Bonsai is all about. Taking natural forms and, not trying to duplicate, but trying to mimic the most beautiful aspects of them; this is the essence of Origami Bonsai. It is that essence that has been captured in this sculpture. It is truly a site to behold. This sculpture is made mostly from recycled newspaper (95% post consumer recycled content). I developed a technique I call "makigami" a few years ago. This technique allows me to turn the morning's newspaper into tree trunks and branches. Makigami is both a technique and what I call the material once it has cured. The planter, tree branches, trunk, flower stamens, and fiddleheads are all made from makigami. The pebbles and rock are made from compressed newspaper. The tree and its branches were painted with multiple coats of paint of different colors. This achieved a bark-like varied brownish color. The planter is painted in a faux oak finish. The rock has a granite finish and the pebbles are black. The fiddleheads are a vibrant shade of green.
